Badung. The police have caught one of the Mexican nationals involved in the Bali villa shooting at Nganjuk Bus Terminal, East Java, on Tuesday. Police also found a gun near the crime scene.

Bali Police spokesperson Jensen Aviatus Panjaitan confirmed the arrest. He said the fugitive identified as Sicairos has been brought to Bali by plane and is now detained at the Badung Police Headquarters along with the other three suspects for further investigation.

"The suspect, Sicairos, who was on the wanted list, has been brought to Bali by plane and is currently apprehended at the Badung Police Headquarters with the other three suspects for further investigation," he said.

Police also recovered a Baikal Makarov pistol found near the crime scene, which will be examined by the Bali Regional Police's Forensic Laboratory.

Earlier, The Bali Regional Police, in collaboration with the National Police, arrested three Mexican nationals involved in the shooting of Turan Mehmet, a 30-year-old Turkish national, at his villa on Tumbak Bayuh Street, Mengwi, Badung, on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024.

The three suspected shooters, all Mexican nationals apprehended by the Badung Police, are identified as Aramburo Contreras Jose Alfonso (32 years old), Mayorquin Eacobedo Juan Antonio (24), and Deraz Gonzalez Victor Eduardo (36). They were arrested in a residential area in Ungasan, South Kuta, on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024.

The motive behind the shooting is believed to be an attempted robbery at the villa, where four Turkish and Georgian nationals, including the victim, were residing. The perpetrators also made off with Rp 30 million and US$ 4,000 from the villa.

They will face multiple charges, including Article 340 in conjunction with Article 53 of the Indonesian Penal Code concerning attempted premeditated murder.  If convicted, the accused individuals could receive a sentence ranging from 20 years to life imprisonment.
