No Indonesian Victim in Deadly Colombia Earthquake
Jakarta. The Foreign Ministry confirmed Tuesday that there is no Indonesian national among the victims of the recent deadly Colombian earthquake.
A 7.4-magnitude tremor had rocked western Colombia on Monday local time, killing at least 111 people, according to the latest tally. The disaster had also left many trapped under the rubble. Heni Hamidah, the ministry’s director for citizen protection, said that the Indonesians had all survived the quake.
“Our embassy in Bogota has kept in touch with the Indonesians living in the affected areas. We have monitored that they are all safe and sound,” Heni said in a statement to the press.
Heni did not say how many Indonesians actually lived in the South American country. The embassy, however, will keep an eye on the developments to prepare for emergency measures in case of aftershocks.
"We urge Indonesians to remain vigilant and follow instructions by local authorities," Heni said.
They may also access the hotline +57 301 9061706.
