Semarang. Andika Perkasa is projected to secure a decisive victory in the upcoming Central Java gubernatorial election, according to a recent survey by the Indonesian Election Study Institute (LKPI).

This survey marks the first since candidates officially registered with the General Election Commission late last month.

The poll reveals that Andika is favored by 64.8 percent of respondents, while his closest rival, Achmad Luthfi, garners 31.4 percent of the vote.

The survey sampled 1,100 eligible voters across all regencies and cities in Central Java, with a margin of error of ±3.95 percentage points.

When voters were asked to name their preferred candidate without being prompted with a list, Andika, the former commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, led with 53.7 percent, while Luthfi, the former Central Java Police Chief, trailed with 30.9 percent.

"Undecided voters account for 19.1 percent, and 6.6 percent of respondents chose not to answer," said LKPI Executive Director Togu Lubis on Saturday.

Indonesia is set to hold simultaneous elections for governors, regents, and mayors across 37 provinces and over 500 regencies and cities on November 27.
