Iran Stays Neutral in Russia-Ukraine War: Envoy
Jakarta. Iran remains neutral in the ongoing war in Ukraine, according to an Iranian envoy, as the conflict saw a new development with North Korean troops reportedly arriving in Russia to support President Vladimir Putin's forces.
International news outlets have reported that Russia has used Iranian-made Shahed drones to strike targets in Ukraine since the conflict began, now in its third year. However, Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, dismissed these reports as unfounded.
"Iran’s position on the Russia-Ukraine war has always been clear and straightforward: Iran maintains its neutrality in this conflict, neither participating in nor supporting either side," Boroujerdi said in a recent interview.
He added that Iran is open to “examining the claims of involved parties” and willing to engage in joint discussions to clarify any misunderstandings.
“These baseless accusations from certain countries have never been supported by credible evidence,” Boroujerdi said.
