Indonesian Prosecutors Reclaim $1.5 Billion in State Assets Last Year
Jakarta. The Attorney General’s Office recovered Rp 24.71 trillion ($1.5 billion) in state assets in 2025 through enforcement actions against tax crimes and corruption, Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin said on Tuesday.
The figure does not include additional recoveries in foreign currencies amounting to $11.2 million, S$26.4 million, and €57,200, Burhanuddin told a hearing with the House of Representatives commission overseeing legal affairs.
Despite the recovery efforts, Burhanuddin acknowledged that the amount reclaimed remained far below the total losses suffered by the state as a result of corruption and money laundering cases.
“Total state losses implicated in corruption and money laundering crimes reached Rp 300.86 trillion ($17.8 billion),” the attorney general said.
During the same hearing, Burhanuddin also disclosed internal disciplinary actions within the prosecution service. A total of 165 prosecutors and staff were sanctioned in 2025 for ethical and criminal violations.
Of that number, 72 received severe penalties, including demotion and dismissal, he said, underscoring what he described as ongoing efforts to strengthen integrity and accountability within the Attorney General’s Office.
