Indonesian Police to Gradually Relocate Personnel to Nusantara Starting July
Jakarta. The relocation of police personnel to the Nusantara National Capital (IKN) will begin gradually from July 2024.
"Polri will carry out the relocation of personnel gradually, and we hope that Polri personnel are ready to carry out their duties and be placed wherever needed," said Indonesian National Police spokesman Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko in Jakarta on Monday.
The relocation of Polri's personnel to Nusantara will be conducted in four stages. First, from 2023 to 2024, a total of 1,667 personnel will be relocated; second, from 2025 to 2029, 9,484 personnel; third, from 2030 to 2034, 9,685 personnel; and fourth, from 2035 to 2040, 9,678 personnel.
Trunoyudo stated that Polri has already deployed 709 personnel to the East Kalimantan Regional Police, including the Balikpapan Metropolitan Police, Samarinda Metropolitan Police, Penajam Paser Utara District Police, and Paser District Police.
"For the next personnel allocation in 2024, Polri will gradually allocate additional personnel from the training and development education graduates," he explained.
Furthermore, there will be a redistribution of police officers and non-commissioned officers from other regional police headquarters. Polri will also increase the number of graduates from its academies stationed in Nusantara.
Previously, State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas announced the first batch of 38 ministries and institutions set to be relocated to Indonesia's future capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan, starting in July.
Among these ministries and institutions are the State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Ministry, the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, the Finance Ministry, the Defense Ministry, the Home Affairs Ministry, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and the Attorney General's Office (AGO).
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo stated in March that he is considering a move to the new national capital, Nusantara, as early as July, pending the completion of crucial infrastructure projects, such as toll roads and airports.
