Indonesian Police Seek Rp 66.1 T Budget Increase for 2027
Jakarta. The National Police has proposed an additional Rp 66.1 trillion ($3.72 billion) in funding for the 2027 fiscal year, citing the need to strengthen election security, expand infrastructure in border areas, procure electric vehicles, and provide official housing for personnel.
Deputy National Police Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo said the police's indicative budget ceiling for 2027 has been set at Rp 118 trillion under a joint letter issued by the Finance Ministry and the National Development Planning Ministry on May 27, 2026.
“Compared with the indicative ceiling for the 2027 fiscal year, there remains a funding shortfall of Rp 66.1 trillion,” Dedi told a hearing with House of Representatives Commission III at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
Polri has estimated its total budget needs for 2027 at Rp 178 trillion, meaning the current indicative allocation covers only around 66.4% of the proposed amount.
Dedi said that the requested additional funding will support several priority programs, including the procurement of electric vehicles to enhance public services and operations at Integrated Police Service Centers (SPKT), the acquisition of special equipment to prepare for security operations during the 2029 general election, the construction of police headquarters in border regions, and the provision of official housing for police personnel.
Beyond operational needs and infrastructure upgrades, part of the proposed increase would also be allocated to personnel spending.
“The National Police have submitted its proposed budget shortfall to the Finance Ministry and the National Development Planning Ministry, consisting of Rp 4.5 trillion for personnel expenditure, Rp 20.9 trillion for goods and services expenditure, and Rp 40.6 trillion for capital expenditure,” he said.
