Jakarta. The Indonesian Modern Pentathlon Team (MPI) has secured two gold medals, six silvers, and two bronzes at the 2024 Southeast Asian Championships held in Chonburi, Pattaya, Thailand.

Air Marshal Purwoko Aji Prabowo, the Chairman of the Indonesian Modern Pentathlon Central Management (PP MPI), expressed his pride in the team's achievement. However, he urged all athletes not to become complacent.

"I believe our current achievements are remarkable, but this should serve as a lesson; we should not be easily satisfied," said Purwoko upon welcoming the MPI athletes returning from Thailand at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, on Friday.

According to Purwoko, the Southeast Asian Championships in Thailand were essential for preparing Indonesian modern pentathletes for the upcoming SEA Games 2024.

"Because we will face the SEA Games next year, which will also be held in Thailand. At least our athletes have seen the location, have seen the competition venue, and have tried out what will be their potential opponents," he added.

The MPI management is currently preparing to scout modern pentathlon athletes by holding several national championships and inviting representatives from all provinces.

"This year, we have reached out to provincial authorities to prepare the athletes once again. At the end of May, we will hold the MPI National Championship, and we invite all provinces that are members of the MPI to participate," he explained.

Graha Rizki secured one gold medal in the battle class, while Caroline claimed another gold in the triathle class at the 2024 Southeast Asian Championships in Thailand.

"The Southeast Asian Championships in Thailand were attended by 11 countries. Our toughest competitor was the Philippines. However, I am delighted that we managed to win gold medals," Caroline said.
