Yogyakarta. Kazakhstan continued its dominance at the 2026 Asian U-17 and U-19 Modern Pentathlon Championships, while host nation Indonesia added two more medals during Friday’s competition at the Indonesian Air Force Academy sports complex in Yogyakarta.

Indonesia secured one silver medal and one bronze medal, adding to its earlier achievements in the regional tournament.

The silver medal came from the boys’ U-17 team event, while the bronze was earned in the boys’ U-19 team category.

Chairman of the Indonesian Modern Pentathlon Association (MPI) Purwoko Aji Prabowo praised the performances of the Indonesian athletes, saying they had fought hard in a tournament featuring high-level competition.

“I appreciate the determination shown by our athletes. Today we succeeded in adding one silver and one bronze medal,” Purwoko said in a statement on Saturday. “These are results we should be grateful for and proud of.”

He added that the tournament had provided valuable experience for Indonesian athletes, especially in competing against opponents nearing world-class standards.

Indonesia’s silver medal in the U-17 boys’ team category was won by Ahmad Hafizh Muzakiyy, Muh Aldo Raditya, and Shafwan Fajar Syach, who collected a combined total of 4,145 points.

Kazakhstan claimed gold in the event with 4,408 points, while Chinese Taipei took bronze with 4,118 points.

Kazakhstan also dominated the U-17 boys’ individual category. Tamirian Tulegenov won gold after recording the highest score of 1,487 points, followed closely by compatriot Khanza Berik with 1,486 points. Cheng Shih Po of Chinese Taipei secured bronze with 1,428 points.

In the U-19 boys’ individual competition, Kazakhstan again swept the top two positions. Erasyl Artykbay captured gold with 1,565 points, while Amal Kusainov earned silver with 1,548 points. Mahbet Isabekov of Kyrgyzstan claimed bronze with 1,464 points.

Kazakhstan also won gold in the U-19 team category with 4,640 points. Chinese Taipei took silver with 4,350 points, while Indonesia secured bronze with 4,286 points through the efforts of Farras Satrio Aris Sugianto, Belhgrano Deeyren Valeska Tirdige, and Steven Abrian Pamaluang.

The 2026 Asian U-17 and U-19 Modern Pentathlon Championships enter their final day on Saturday, with the mixed relay event set to conclude the tournament, which has been running since May 10 and attracted significant public attention in Yogyakarta.
