Jakarta. Manpower Minister Yassierli on Friday visited Grha BNI in Central Jakarta to review the National Internship Program Batch II, where he highlighted BNI as the country’s biggest absorber of interns with up to 4,000 participants nationwide.

Yassierli said the government wants the program to reach young talent outside the capital, noting BNI’s efforts to place interns across Indonesia.

“BNI is among the state companies recruiting the most interns, with around 3,000 to 4,000 participants spread across the country,” he told reporters.

Minister Yassierli added that the initiative is attracting graduates from universities nationwide.

“We hope this program doesn’t only thrive in Jakarta. We want equal access in the regions so graduates can intern where they live,” he said.

BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan welcomed the policy under President Prabowo Subianto, saying it strengthens links between education and employment.

“This program gives us a direct bridge between the workplace and education,” he said, adding that most interns will support marketing roles, including savings products and lending.

The government recently launched the second batch of the National Internship Program, enrolling 62,128 university graduates as part of the 8+4+5 economic policy package for 2025. Participation surged from the first batch’s roughly 15,000 interns.

“We’ve set around 62,000 interns for the second batch, leaving room to meet our target of 100,000,” Yassierli said earlier this week.
