Government Advises Work-from-Home on September 5 Due to Pope Francis Visit
Jakarta. Heru Budi Hartono, Head of the State Secretariat and Acting Governor of Jakarta, has recommended that workers work from home on September 5 due to two major events involving foreign dignitaries.
“From September 3 to 6, Indonesia will host two major events: the visit of Pope Francis and the Indonesian Sustainable Forum (ISF),” Heru Budi Hartono said at the State Palace.
“Pope Francis will arrive on September 3, with a state reception on September 4. On September 5, two major events will take place: Pope Francis will lead a mass at Bung Karno Stadium, and the ISF will be held at the Jakarta Convention Center. Finally, Pope Francis will depart on September 6,” he said.
The mass at Bung Karno Stadium is expected to draw around 90,000 Catholic attendees.
Heru Budi warns of potential congestion due to the simultaneous events. “We encourage workers to consider working from home on September 5 to avoid heavy traffic and crowds from both the Pope’s visit and the ISF,” he advised.
He urged the public to plan ahead to minimize disruptions and to consider working from home based on the anticipated congestion.
