Solo. Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka acknowledges that there is still a lot of unfinished business he needs to address before leaving his position and being inaugurated as the vice president in October 2024.

"Many things still need to be resolved, starting from physical development, reducing poverty rates, unemployment rates, increasing job opportunities, and improving the Human Development Index (HDI)," he told reporters at the Solo City Hall on Tuesday.

One of his pending tasks involves the completion of the Gilingan Viaduct. Gibran expresses optimism that the project can be finalized this year. The project encountered setbacks when Putu Sumarjaya, the Head of the Central Java Railway Technical Implementation Unit overseeing the project, faced corruption allegations in April 2023.

"The case has been settled. Don't worry, everything is proceeding according to the timeline," he assured.

Gibran, the eldest son of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, was officially inaugurated as the Mayor of Solo alongside Teguh Prakosa as the Deputy Mayor on Feb. 26, 2021.

The vice-presidential candidate for Prabowo Subianto outlined 17 priority development initiatives in Solo. These include the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, revitalization of the Ngarsopuro and Gatot Subroto corridors, Lokananta revitalization, Solo Safari, Solo Technopark organization, Shelter Manahan, Putri Cempo, Semanggi slum area development, Pura Mangkunegaran Revitalization, Mebel Gilingan IKM Center, and the renewal of Balekambang Park.

Ongoing projects include the Elevated Rail Simpang Joglo, Jongke Market, De Cultural and Technology Museum, and the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace Square. Projects slated to commence include the Islamic Centre and the Indoor Manahan Sports Arena.
