Jakarta. Energy is a universal right, according to Enggartiasto Lukita, the executive chairman of the B-Universe Media Holdings.

The media holding and the Energy Ministry are co-hosting a two-day festival that puts a laser focus on the country's energy self-sufficiency dream. Indonesia's ambition to add value to its abundant resources also became a major talking point in what could be the country's biggest energy festival.

The Energi Mineral Festival 2025 provided space for energy stakeholders -- including senior government representatives and businesspeople -- to share their knowledge. Countless university students were also present, reflecting how Indonesian youths were increasingly more aware of Indonesia's energy sector.

In his opening remarks, Enggartiasto said that the resource-rich Indonesia should stand on its own two feet. It is also crucial for the government to make sure that everyone in the country has reliable access to energy.

"Indonesia must be fair to all of its people, be it those who live in the cities to those who live in the small villages. Energy is a universal right," the former trade minister told the conference.

Enggartiasto also hopes that the festival can be an opportunity for Indonesian youths to learn about the sector.

"The energy sector plays a pivotal role in Indonesia. The second-biggest contributor to the state budget after taxes is the energy sector," he said.
