Dutch National Fatally Stabbed at Bali Villa, Police Hunt Two Suspects
Badung, Bali. A Dutch national was fatally stabbed in a brutal late-night attack at a villa in North Kuta, police said, in the latest violent incident to shake the resort island.
The victim, identified as Rene Pow, 49, was attacked at Villa Amira No.1 in Kerobokan on Monday at around 10:30 p.m. local time.
Police said Pow was preparing to leave the villa with his girlfriend, Pujiani, 30, when two unidentified men riding a motorcycle approached and launched a sudden assault using a bladed weapon.
One of the attackers was seen wearing a ride-hailing driver jacket, while the other wore an orange shirt, according to witness accounts.
Pow was unable to evade the assault and suffered multiple stab wounds. His girlfriend managed to flee after briefly being chased by one of the assailants.
In a particularly violent turn, the attackers reportedly entered the villa compound before returning outside to continue the assault on the already injured victim.
“The incident occurred last night in Kerobokan, Badung. The victim, a Dutch national, was attacked by two individuals on a motorcycle using a stabbing weapon,” said Aria Sandy, spokesperson for the Bali Police.
He said the victim sustained severe injuries and could not be saved despite efforts to assist him. The body has been taken to a hospital.
Police from the North Kuta precinct, Badung Police, and Bali Police have launched a joint investigation and are pursuing the suspects, whose identities and nationalities remain unknown as they wore covered clothing.
Authorities have questioned at least three witnesses, including the victim’s partner and nearby residents.
After carrying out the attack, the perpetrators fled the scene on their motorcycle.
Investigators have processed the crime scene and are collecting further evidence, including CCTV footage from around the villa, to determine the motive behind the killing.
