Jakarta. The government has closed an illegal foreign-owned beauty clinic in the tourist haven of Bali.

Health Ministry spokesperson Aji Muhawarman said Wednesday that the facility was operating with the name PRIME Skin Clinic and was once also known as Elasto Beauty. The Health Ministry discovered that the facility was not registered in its system, as it was operating without legal permits. The clinic had foreign healthcare workers from Russia and Armenia who did not have proper permits.

The existing regulations require doctors to obtain a registration letter and a medical practice permit from official authorities in Indonesia.

“We have shut down the facility,” Aji was quoted as saying by the state news agency Antara.

He went on to say that Indonesia will not tolerate unlicensed medical practices.

"We will take action against any violation in accordance with the law to maintain the integrity of our national healthcare system,” Aji said.
