ASDP Ferry Says Eid Travel Passengers Hit 2.6 Million, Up 5%
Jakarta. State-owned ferry operator ASDP Indonesia Ferry said the 2026 Eid homecoming travel remained under control, with a total of 2,596,597 passengers recorded.
“Cumulatively from 10 days before Eid to the day of Eid, total passengers reached 2,596,597, up 5.4% from last year (2025), which recorded 2,463,910 passengers,” ASDP President Director Heru Widodo said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
Strong operational readiness and coordination across stakeholders in 15 monitored national routes helped keep this year’s homecoming flow under control despite a significant surge in mobility.
ASDP implemented several measures, including adjustments to vessel operations, personnel deployment, and traffic engineering such as vehicle diversion and delay systems at buffer zones.
Vehicle transport also increased, with total units reaching 667,526, up 7.2% from 622,604 units a year earlier.
On a daily basis, data for March 21, 2026 (Eid day), showed passenger numbers rose 1.7% to 156,838 from 154,237 in the same period last year.
Vehicle volume on the day reached 40,066 units, up 0.6% from 39,811 units.
The busiest routes were recorded on major crossings linking Java, Sumatra, and Bali.
ASDP Corporate Secretary Windy Andale said preparations for the return flow are being strengthened. From Eid day to 10 days after, ticket availability on the Java–Sumatra and Java–Bali routes remains at 98.66%.
“The public is encouraged to plan trips early, purchase tickets through the Ferizy platform starting 60 days before departure, ensure passenger data accuracy, and arrive at ports on time,” she said.
ASDP also urged travelers to take advantage of the ongoing fare discount stimulus program. Since March 12, 2026, more than 1.06 million passengers have used the program, which offers discounts of up to 100% on port service fees, equivalent to around 21.9% of total fares.
As of March 21, 2026, realized stimulus absorption reached Rp14.5 billion (about $852,000), or 40.84% of the target, with user participation at 62.36%. Variations in vehicle types and routes contributed to the gap.
Meanwhile, on land routes, the peak of the return flow is projected to fall on Tuesday, with more than 285,000 vehicles expected. Data from the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center show this is higher than the outbound peak on March 18, 2026, which recorded 270,315 vehicles.
