Airlangga Hartarto Appointed Interim Manpower Minister Ahead of Transition
Jakarta. Chief Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto has been appointed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as the interim Manpower Minister.
Airlangga replaces Ida Fauziyah, who resigned after being sworn in as a legislative member.
"Airlangga Hartarto started working at the Manpower Ministry on Monday,” stated the official announcement from the Ministry on Oct. 15, 2024.
On his first day, Airlangga immediately led a high-level meeting at the Ministry to discuss various current labor issues and formulate policy strategies to address challenges in the labor sector.

Airlangga will serve as interim minister for less than a week, as the current administration is set to conclude on Oct. 20. President-elect Prabowo Subianto will be inaugurated on Sunday. Prabowo has been interviewing ministerial candidates since Monday, including Airlangga, who is likely to return as a minister in Prabowo's administration.
