Jakarta. Celebrity figure Raffi Ahmad has refuted rumors suggesting that the recently adopted baby girl he and his wife welcomed into their family is of Palestinian descent.

In a podcast released on Tuesday, Raffi disclosed that he and his wife, Nagita Slavina Asli, legally adopted the child, affectionately nicknamed Lily, immediately after her birth.

"Lily is unequivocally Indonesian," Raffi assured host Atta Halilintar.

"Is that indeed the case?" Atta inquired.

"Absolutely. Why would I fabricate such information?" Raffi responded.

He went on to clarify that Lily was born to Indonesian parents and recounted how he personally performed the adzan, or Islamic call to prayer, at her birth -- a customary practice typically undertaken by the newborn’s father in Islamic tradition.

"Lily was adopted at birth, and I performed the adzan for her. She is of Indonesian descent because her biological parents are Indonesian citizens," he said.

However, Raffi refrained from elaborating on the adoption process, citing various legal procedures yet to be finalized.

"We appreciate your patience as there are still numerous formalities to address. Gigi will provide further details," Raffi said, referring to his wife by her nickname.

"Why Gigi? Because I trust her to oversee our children's well-being. Frankly, I'm not even aware of the details regarding our children's school fees. Gigi handles everything," he added.

Raffi also underscored that the decision to adopt Lily was a mutual one between him and his wife.
