Jakarta. Indonesia’s universal health insurer BPJS Kesehatan has awarded Raffi Ahmad the title of Honorary Ambassador in recognition of his support for the National Health Insurance (JKN) program and as part of efforts to broaden public education through a figure with cross-generational appeal.

BPJS Kesehatan President Director Prihati Pujowaskito said Raffi was selected as the first recipient of the title based on several strategic considerations.

“In addition to being known as the President’s Special Envoy for Youth Development, a public figure, and a popular entertainer, Raffi Ahmad is also seen as socially minded, active in building collaboration, and able to reach young people and productive-age communities,” Prihati, who is known as Pujo, said.

He added that Raffi had also set an example by registering his employees and their family members as participants in the National Health Insurance program.

The move reflects regulatory compliance as well as a commitment to providing health protection for workers, particularly in the entertainment sector, he said.

“Raffi Ahmad not only has significant influence in the public sphere, but also leads by example through concrete action. His decision to register employees and their families in the JKN program shows that worker health protection is a shared responsibility that can begin within each business environment,” Pujo said.

He added that collaboration with public figures is expected to strengthen public literacy regarding the importance of active membership, contribution payment compliance, and appropriate use of healthcare services.

BPJS Kesehatan believes Raffi’s role as Honorary Ambassador will help spread the values of mutual cooperation and social solidarity while encouraging wider participation in the program.

Pujo said the JKN program has developed into one of the world’s largest social health insurance systems, with 284.9 million participants, covering more than 98% of Indonesia’s population.

“The National Health Insurance program is not merely a healthcare financing system, but a representation of Indonesia’s spirit of togetherness. Through mutual cooperation, healthy participants help those who are ill, and those who are able help those in need,” he said.

At the same event, BPJS Kesehatan Supervisory Board member Rukijo said the honorary title symbolizes the organization’s values, exemplary leadership, and a communication bridge to broaden public understanding of health protection through the JKN program.

Meanwhile, Raffi expressed appreciation for the recognition, saying the award carries major meaning and also represents a responsibility to promote the importance of health protection for Indonesians.

“The National Health Insurance program is proof that the state is present for all layers of society. The government seeks to provide the most basic protection for all Indonesians: certainty of access to quality healthcare services without the burden of expensive costs,” Raffi said.

He also encouraged Indonesians to adopt healthy lifestyles from a young age through regular exercise, balanced living, nutritious food, and positive thinking.

“I invite all Indonesians to actively participate, pay contributions in a disciplined manner, and together safeguard the sustainability of the JKN program. Let us preserve this spirit of mutual cooperation so the National Health Insurance program can continue protecting every Indonesian anytime and anywhere. Through mutual cooperation, everyone is helped,” he said.
