Jakarta. Actor and television host Hamish Daud on Thursday denied rumors that he had been unfaithful to his wife, pop singer Raisa Andriana, with a chef named Sasha Sabrina, saying the speculation had spun out of control and unfairly dragged innocent people into the spotlight.

Speaking at the South Jakarta Police precinct on Thursday, the Australian-born entertainer said Sabrina has been a family friend for a decade, not a romantic partner. He visited the precinct to follow up on the defamation complaint he filed in July.

“There is no third person in our relationship,” he said. “She’s been a friend for 10 years, so she’s not someone new. I know her whole family; her father, her mother, her siblings. They’re good people. This shouldn’t have happened to them.”

Daud also denied social media chatter suggesting he had used Pinterest as part of an alleged affair, saying the app was strictly connected to his work. Before entering entertainment, Daud said he had spent 15 years in the architecture field and often shared visual references and creative notes through Pinterest.

“I don’t know why the screenshots suddenly became viral and were turned into something more than that,” he said.

He apologized to Sabrina and her family for being dragged into the news cycle around his divorce.

“I’m truly sorry that they were affected. I’m sorry to my fans, to Raisa’s family, to my family, this negative rumor isn’t true,” he said.

Daud and Raisa --one of Indonesia’s most recognizable celebrity couples-- have confirmed they will divorce after eight years of marriage and move forward with a co-parenting arrangement for their daughter, Zalina. Hamish said they remain on good terms and will jointly share assets.

“Our relationship is still very good. We will co-parent, we will work together to raise our daughter,” he said.

He added that he would remain present, financially and emotionally, even after the separation.

“As a man, I won’t run away from my responsibilities. I will continue to support her, whether it’s financial or as a friend and family,” Daud said.

The couple has also agreed to share time with their daughter.

“There is no such thing as one parent not being allowed to meet the child,” he said. “We both want what is best for her.”
