Jakarta. Indonesia will host a packed calendar of international sporting, music, and pop culture events this August, underscoring the country's ambition to strengthen tourism and its reputation as a global events destination.

Muhammad Qodari, head of the Government Communications Agency, said the lineup reflects growing international confidence in Indonesia's ability to organize world-class events.

"Hosting a series of international events demonstrates Indonesia's capability to organize world-class events while generating positive impacts for tourism, local businesses, and the national economy," Qodari said on Tuesday.

Jakarta

• Aston Villa vs. Indonesia XI
  • Date: Aug. 1
  • Venue: Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium
  • English Premier League club Aston Villa, the 2025-26 UEFA Europa League champions, will kick off their Asian preseason tour against an Indonesia XI as part of preparations for the 2026-27 season.
• Chelsea vs. AC Milan
  • Date: Aug. 8
  • Venue: Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium
  • Chelsea will face Italian powerhouse AC Milan on Aug. 8 in a marquee exhibition match that will serve as the closing event of the 2026 President's Cup pre-season tournament, although neither European club is participating in the competition itself. The match will mark Chelsea's first appearance in Jakarta since 2013 and AC Milan's first visit to Indonesia in more than three decades, having last played in the country in 1994. The fixture is also expected to draw attention for the tactical battle between the clubs' new managers, Xabi Alonso at Chelsea and Ruben Amorim at AC Milan, both looking to usher in a new era after disappointing 2025-26 campaigns.
• Anime Festival Asia (AFA) Indonesia 2026

  • Southeast Asia's largest Japanese pop culture convention will feature anime showcases, interactive booths, cosplay competitions, creator markets, exclusive merchandise, and live performances. Featured artists include Isekaijoucho, kz (livetune), SPYAIR, and Togenashi Togeari.
• iKON "FOUREVER" World Tour

  • The K-pop group returns to Indonesia with performances expected to include Love Scenario, Killing Me, and Rhythm Ta.

  • Despite its name, Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) Shoreline will be held in Bali. The beachfront electronic dance music festival takes place during Indonesia's Independence Day long weekend and is headlined this year by Swedish electronic music duo Galantis, alongside Indonesian acts Dipha Barus featuring KC Jones, Faktta B2B Greybox, HBRP, and Iris Nova. Galantis is best known for global hits including Runaway (U & I), No Money, Peanut Butter Jelly, and Heartbreak Anthem.
