Jakarta. Indonesia’s oil lifting reached 578,000 barrels per day in the first half of 2025, which is about 95.5 percent of this year’s target of 605,000 barrels per day, according to the country’s upstream oil and gas regulator, SKK Migas.

SKK Migas Chief Djoko Siswanto said Monday the lifting figure for June 2025 was higher than the same month last year, which saw 576,100 barrels per day.

“We hope to reach the 605,000 barrels per day target by the end of the year,” he said.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s oil production in June 2025 stood at 579,300 barrels per day. Djoko explained that production and lifting figures often differ because not all oil produced is shipped immediately. Some contractors store oil first and then conduct lifting in larger batches.

Djoko added that projects such as the Forel field in the Offshore North West Java (ONWJ) block and the Terubuk field in the Riau province have helped drive higher national oil and gas production. Output from the Banyu Urip field in East Java’s Bojonegoro regency has also increased significantly.

Apart from oil, Djoko reported strong gas production numbers, which reached 6,820 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) in June 2025, well above the target of 5,628 MMSCFD set in the state budget. However, gas distribution was lower, at 5,483 MMSCFD, or 97.4 percent of the target, due to factors such as flaring and impurities during processing.

Overall, Indonesia’s total oil and gas production in June 2025 was 1.797 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOEPD), exceeding the annual target by reaching 111.6 percent of the goal of 1.610 million BOEPD. However, total oil and gas lifting was at 1.557 million BOEPD, or 96.7 percent of the target.

“We hope to achieve 100 percent of the oil and gas lifting target by the end of 2025,” Djoko said.
