Indonesia Stocks Rise at Open as Oil Prices Fall, Nasdaq Hits Record
Jakarta. Indonesian stocks opened higher on Tuesday, gaining 7 points or 0.12% to 6,392, as easing oil prices and gains across global markets supported investor sentiment, although concerns over Middle East tensions continued to cloud the outlook.
Data from RTI showed that 1.07 billion shares had changed hands in early trading, with a total transaction value of Rp 425.277 billion ($23.78 million) and 79,051 transactions recorded.
A total of 281 stocks advanced, while 154 declined and 233 remained unchanged.
Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) could test the 6,300-6,350 range, Phintraco Sekuritas said in its research note on Tuesday.
“However, falling oil prices and gains in global stock indexes could limit the index’s decline,” the brokerage said.
Phintraco Sekuritas also highlighted the Indonesia Stock Exchange’s (IDX) upcoming adjustment to minimum share prices and auto-rejection limits for equities and infrastructure investment funds (DINFRA) traded on the regular and cash markets.
Effective Sept. 28, 2026, the minimum share price will be lowered to Rp 1 from Rp 50, alongside changes to the upper auto-rejection (ARA) and lower auto-rejection (ARB) limits. The brokerage said the changes could improve market liquidity and optimize fair price discovery.
“Furthermore, they could provide an exit for investors whose capital has been trapped for years in stocks that have remained at the Rp 50 ARB limit for extended periods,” Phintraco Sekuritas added.
However, the policy also carries risks, including substantial capital losses, heightened speculative volatility in stocks priced below Rp 50 and the potential for novice retail investors to be misled by the illusion of cheap shares, the brokerage said.
Kiwoom Sekuritas Indonesia said global market sentiment improved amid declining oil prices and US Treasury yields, boosting investor interest in technology and artificial intelligence stocks. Lower financing costs also improved the outlook for hyperscalers to continue issuing debt to fund the expansion of AI infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the success of Meta’s latest AI agent product added to optimism over chip demand. However, investors remained watchful of developments in the Middle East conflict and their potential impact on inflation and global monetary policy.
Wall Street closed higher on Monday, supported by falling US Treasury yields and easing oil prices, which helped ease concerns over macroeconomic pressures. The S&P 500 rose 1.49%, while the Nasdaq Composite surged 2.26% to notch a new record closing high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.71%.
Across regional markets, Seoul’s Kospi climbed 1.7% as of 9:26 a.m. Jakarta time. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index advanced 0.45%, while Shanghai’s SSE Composite Index rose 0.31%.
Japan is still closed for national holiday.
