"Deflation of 0.03 percent was recorded month-to-month, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreasing from 106.09 in July 2024 to 106.06 in August 2024," said Pudji Ismartini, Deputy for Distribution & Services Statistics at BPS, during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

In August, the Information, Communication, and Financial Services sector saw a year-on-year deflation of 0.16 percent, with the index falling from 99.70 in August 2023 to 99.54 in August 2024.

The commodities contributing to this month-to-month deflation include rice, chili peppers, cucumbers, ground coffee, machine-made clove cigarettes, gasoline, elementary school fees, middle school fees, higher education tuition fees, and jewelry.
