IDX Opens Higher Following Wall Street Rally, Strong Consumer Sentiment
Jakarta. Indonesia’s benchmark Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) opened higher on Tuesday morning, rising 43 points or 0.51 percent to 8,437, moving within the 8,426–8,443 range in the early session.
Trading volume reached 3.6 billion shares with a turnover of Rp 2 trillion ($119.74 million) and more than 260,000 transactions recorded within the first five minutes. 229 stocks advanced, 235 declined, and 200 remained unchanged.
The upbeat opening follows a rebound on Wall Street overnight, where optimism grew over a possible end to the US government shutdown, easing concerns about economic disruptions.
The S&P 500 climbed 1.5 percent, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 381 points (0.8 percent), and the Nasdaq Composite surged 2.3 percent, its best single-day gain since May.
Nvidia jumped 5.8 percent, leading gains among Big Tech stocks, while Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) shares traded in the US climbed 3.1 percent after reporting a 17 percent annual revenue increase in October.
Investor optimism also improved in Indonesia after the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) rose to 121.2 in October 2025, up from 115 a month earlier, its highest level since April. The reading signals stronger household optimism about current and future economic conditions.
CGS International Sekuritas Indonesia noted that higher Wall Street indices and rising commodity prices, especially gold, could serve as positive catalysts for the local market today.
Across Asia, markets tracked Wall Street’s rally. Japan’s Nikkei gained 403 points (0.78 percent) to 51,314, South Korea’s Kospi rose 51 points (1.23 percent) to 4,124, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng added 99 points (0.37 percent) to 26,748, and Shanghai’s SSE edged up 5 points (0.12 percent) to 4,023.
On the domestic exchange, the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) lifted trading suspensions on Koka Indonesia (KOKA) and Lotte Chemical Titan (FPNI).
Meanwhile, Puri Sentul Permai (KDTN) remains under unusual market activity (UMA) monitoring. The bourse has advised investors to pay close attention to the issuer’s disclosures and performance updates.
Yesterday, the IHSG closed slightly lower amid technical overbought conditions, as investors locked in profits after recent gains.
