Honda Debuts Super-One EV in Southeast Asia at Indonesia Auto Show
Tangerang. Honda on Wednesday unveiled its Super-One electric hatchback in Indonesia, making the country the model's first market in Southeast Asia as the Japanese automaker accelerates its regional electrification strategy.
The launch at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 comes with a limited allocation of just 100 units for Indonesia this year.
Honda Prospect Motor Sales Director Yusak Billy said demand in Japan had far exceeded expectations since the model's debut.
"In Japan, orders have already exceeded 12,000 units within two months of its launch. As a result, Indonesia's allocation is very limited -- only 100 units for 2026," Yusak said at the exhibition.
He said the Super-One targets drivers looking for a more engaging electric driving experience than conventional battery-powered vehicles.
"This car is not necessarily for everyone. It is designed for those who want a different kind of electric driving experience while retaining Honda's fun-to-drive DNA," he said.
Honda Prospect Motor President Director Masano Kataoka described the launch as more than the introduction of a new model.
"This is not just the launch of a car. It is a statement about Honda's future direction," he said.
Built on a modified N-Series platform, the Super-One is powered by a 29.6-kWh battery that delivers a driving range of up to 274 kilometers. It offers five driving modes—Econ, City, Normal, Sport, and Boost -- with maximum output reaching 93 horsepower in Boost mode.
To preserve Honda's signature driving character, the electric hatchback features a simulated seven-speed transmission paired with Active Sound Control, creating gear-shift sensations and engine-like sounds typically associated with gasoline-powered vehicles.
Honda has yet to announce the Super-One's official Indonesian price, which will be revealed on Aug. 5.
In Japan, the model is priced at around Rp 390 million (around $21,600). The Indonesian price is expected to be higher because the initial batch will be imported as completely built-up (CBU) vehicles, which are subject to higher import-related taxes.
