Jakarta. Bank CIMB Niaga (BNGA) reported consolidated net profit attributable to shareholders of Rp 1.76 trillion ($101.7 million) for the first quarter of 2026, down 2.2% from Rp 1.8 trillion a year earlier.

According to the bank’s financial statement released on Thursday, the decline was mainly due to lower interest income, which fell 8.51% year-on-year to Rp 5.7 trillion in the January–March period. Interest expenses dropped 14.78% to Rp 2.48 trillion.

As a result, net interest income stood at Rp 3.22 trillion, down 3.01% from the same period last year.

Digital Transactions Boost Fee Income
Financial transactions conducted via the OCTO mobile banking application rose 29% in the first quarter, helping support the bank’s fee-based income growth.

Chief Executive Officer Lani Darmawan said the bank maintained strong asset quality, with its non-performing loan (NPL) ratio remaining below the industry average and the cost of credit (CoC) kept under 1%.

“This solid quarterly performance strengthens our confidence to accelerate strategic initiatives, create long-term value for stakeholders, and contribute meaningfully to Indonesia’s economic resilience,” Lani said in a statement.

Capital and Liquidity Remain Strong
The bank reported a capital adequacy ratio (CAR) of 25.3% and a loan-to-deposit ratio (LDR) of 89.2%.

Total consolidated assets reached Rp 368.2 trillion as of March 31, 2026, reinforcing CIMB Niaga’s position as Indonesia’s second-largest private bank by assets after Bank Central Asia (BCA).

Total loans and financing grew 2.2% year-on-year to Rp 235.1 trillion.

The strongest growth came from the corporate banking segment, which expanded 4.8%, followed by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) at 1.2%, and consumer banking at 0.2%.

Retail lending growth was mainly supported by a 4% increase in auto loans.
