Jakarta. Bank Central Asia (BCA), Indonesia's largest private lender, reported a 1.8% increase in first-half net profit to Rp 29.5 trillion ($1.6 billion), supported by strong growth in non-interest income that offset softer lending margins in a high-interest-rate environment.

According to the bank's financial statement released on Tuesday, net interest income edged down 0.6% year on year to Rp 42.4 trillion, while non-interest income rose 11% to Rp 13.2 trillion.

BCA's outstanding loans reached Rp 1,036 trillion ($57.2 billion) as of the end of June, up 8% from a year earlier.

Productive lending continued to drive loan growth, with loans to the productive sectors rising 11% to Rp 802 trillion. Commercial loans increased 6.6% to Rp 288.5 trillion.
