Airlangga Hartarto Targets 2025 Completion for Patimban Toll Road
Jakarta. Chief Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto inspected Patimban Port in Subang, West Java on Wednesday, targeting the connection of this national strategic project (PSN) to the toll road by 2025.
"The Patimban Port supports industrial areas in Bekasi, Karawang, and Purwakarta. Today, we see vehicles exported to various countries, including Japan, Singapore, and others from this port," Airlangga said on Tuesday.
The Patimban Port area is designed to accommodate export-ready vehicles of up to 218,000 units. In 2023, the export of cars from the Patimban Port reached 223,000 units, exceeding 100 percent of its capacity. The port can also handle containers of up to 3.5 million TEUs
Airlangga hopes that future logistics access will lead to more competitive logistics costs as it becomes closer to industrial areas in West Java.
The Patimban Port costs a total of Rp 32 trillion ($2 billion) to develop. Meanwhile, the toll road investment amounted to Rp 10 trillion.
"The toll road is still in progress. We hope it can be completed by 2025. This toll road is crucial as it serves as access for logistics and containers entering the Patimban Port," said Airlangga on Wednesday.
He emphasized the importance of the toll road's availability as access to the Patimban Port, as the current road access relies on the national road through the north coast of Subang.
"We can gradually reduce logistics costs if the Patimban Toll Road can be completed on time," he added.
Jasa Marga Akses Patimban is speeding up the construction of the Patimban Toll Road. The toll road spans 37 kilometers, with 14.11 kilometers constructed by toll road operator Jasa Marga Akses Patimban and 22.94 kilometers by the government.
