80 Countries Ready for Indonesia’s Mandatory Halal Certification: BPJPH
Jakarta. More than 80 countries are ready to accommodate Indonesia’s mandatory halal certification policy, signaling growing international coordination as the government prepares to enforce the requirements, the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) said.
BPJPH head Ahmad Haikal Hasan said Indonesia had conducted outreach and communication with the international halal community to prepare countries for the policy.
“More than 80 countries are ready to accept this. We have conducted outreach to all of them,” Haikal said after the closing of the 5th Summit of Halal 20 (H20) 2026 in Jakarta on Monday.
Domestically, the government remains committed to implementing mandatory halal certification in accordance with existing regulations, he said.
“Domestically, we are definitely ready and we will not back down. There should be no more impression that we are going to retreat,” Haikal said.
Indonesia’s halal product assurance policy is governed by Law No. 33/2014 on Halal Product Assurance and Government Regulation No. 42/2021 on the Implementation of Halal Product Assurance.
BPJPH Appoints Anindya as Foreign Halal Inspection Body
Alongside its international outreach, BPJPH has appointed Anindya Wiraputra Konsult (Anindya) as an inspection body responsible for verifying halal products overseas.
The appointment is intended to strengthen Indonesia’s overseas halal verification network and ensure imported products comply with the country’s halal requirements.
Haikal handed the appointment decree to Anindya president commissioner Ganjar Gautama.
Anindya said it had prepared the necessary network and resources to carry out the mandate. The company operates several overseas offices and has an affiliate network spanning more than 70 countries.
“Since 2019, our experience in verification activities has been one of the foundations for carrying out the responsibilities assigned by BPJPH,” said Muchdy Lubis, manager of Anindya’s Foreign Halal Product Assurance Institution (LPPH).
BPJPH director of partnerships and cooperation Fertiana Santy welcomed Anindya’s participation, saying the involvement of partner institutions would help the agency strengthen cooperation and develop Indonesia’s halal assurance ecosystem.
“Their participation is very positive and enthusiastic. It means their involvement strongly supports BPJPH, and we can also benefit from their support,” Fertiana said.
