Victory at Last
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, accompanied by Vice President Ma'Aruf Amin, delivered what was effectively his official presidential election victory speech at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta on Thursday night after the Constitutional Court decided to throw out Prabowo Subianto's challenge against the result of April's presidential election.
"There is no more Jokowi or Prabowo. Now all that matters is the unity of Indonesia," the president said before departing for Osaka to attend the G20 Summit.
Meanwhile, at his residence in South Jakarta, Prabowo, accompanied by his running mate Sandiaga Uno, also read a statement accepting the Constitutional Court's verdict.
"We accept the verdict of the Constitutional Court. The real truth belongs to Allah, God Almighty," Prabowo said.
