Supporters of the newly passed Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Law held a demonstration in front of the House of Representatives in Central Jakarta on Friday. They were met by an equally large group of opponents to the revised law out on the street. Thousands of police officers and Army soldiers formed an impregnable line to separate the two groups on Jalan Gatot Subroto, which had been closed off since Thursday morning in anticipation of the protests.
