Jakarta. Jakarta’s Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara, or Museum MACAN, finally reopened its doors on Wednesday, after almost a year of Covid-related closure.

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno recently gave his nod for exhibitions to be held again, as long as they comply with the cleanliness, health, safety, and environment sustainability (CHSE) guidelines. To avoid mass crowding, only a limited number of people can enter the gallery at a time.

An exciting lineup of programs are underway to welcome back visitors.

People can explore Southeast Asia's contemporary art at the “Stories Across Rising Lands” exhibition. Semesta dan Angan/Multiverses and Dreams: Selections from the Collection of Museum MACAN” brings together a cross-cultural selection of works. Whilst the upcoming "UOB Museum MACAN Children’s Art Space Commission: Tales of Nowhere by Citra Sasmita” exhibition will tell the story of an animal kingdom.

Exhibitions “Melati Suryodarmo: Why Let the Chicken Run?” and the “UOB Museum MACAN Children's Art Room: Colors in a Cave by Mit Jai Inn” will also make a comeback after a year-long, pandemic-induced delay.

Those staying home can still tune in to online art panel discussions and enjoy the 360 virtual tour.
