Jakarta. Presidential candidates outlined their strategies for acquiring and developing crucial technologies, such as artificial intelligence and satellites, to strengthen the nation's defense. The third presidential debate focuses on defense, security, geopolitics, and international relations.

Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto emphasized the need for human resources to master science and technology. As the Minister of Defense, he mentioned his efforts in establishing four new faculties in science, engineering, technology, and mathematics at the Defense University (Universitas Pertahanan).

"We are preparing the best and brightest youths to master technology and science. We must grasp the know-how and the systems," Prabowo said during the presidential debate at the Istora Sports Stadium in Jakarta on Sunday.

Candidate Ganjar Pranowo expressed his commitment to strengthening the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) and creating a robust security system while enhancing cyberinfrastructure.

"The speed and coverage of the internet must be high. No corruption should be tolerated," said Ganjar.

Additionally, Ganjar proposed providing opportunities for Indonesian students who receive the Education Endowment Fund (LPDP) to serve at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

Candidate Anies Baswedan highlighted the increasing threat of cyber attacks as a non-traditional menace in Indonesia. He underlined the need to establish a serious cybersecurity defense structure, stating that assigning tasks to a group of individuals would not be sufficient.

"Smartphones and our family computers face hacking challenges. We need to build a robust cybersecurity defense structure, not merely relying on assigning these tasks to a few individuals," said Anies.
