Indonesia Teams Up with Indosat, NVIDIA, Cisco to Launch National AI Center
Jakarta. Indonesia launched a national AI Center of Excellence in Jakarta on Friday in partnership with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, NVIDIA, and Cisco, aiming to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption and build a skilled workforce to support the country’s digital ambitions.
Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria attended the launch, along with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison President Director and CEO Vikram Sinha, Cisco Chair and CEO Chuck Robbins, and NVIDIA Senior Vice President for Telecom Ronnie Vasishta.
“The government, Indosat, Cisco, and NVIDIA are working together to build this center to achieve our future vision, Indonesia Digital 2045,” Nezar said.
A key goal of the center is to develop Indonesia’s digital talent. By 2027, the AI Center of Excellence plans to train one million Indonesians in networking, cybersecurity, and AI skills.
Vikram said the center’s top priority is to develop local talent, emphasizing that human skills are essential for AI to reach its full potential.
He added that Indosat has already set up an AI center and, together with NVIDIA, Cisco, universities, and community groups, will conduct research to create practical AI solutions for daily life.
The AI Center of Excellence is expected to help build a strong, secure, and inclusive digital ecosystem in Indonesia. At the same event, Indosat also launched an AI Security initiative.
Indosat hopes the center will grow into a national movement to position Indonesia as a leader in AI.
“We want this to become a national movement, not just an Indosat event. We want Indonesia to be a leader in AI, not only domestically but also in the region and globally,” said M. Danny Buldansyah, Director and Chief Business Officer at Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.
