Jakarta. Hyundai Motors Indonesia officially launched the latest model of its Santa Fe SUV in Jakarta on Thursday.
The company offers both conventional engine options and a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) variant for the Indonesian market.
According to Chief Operating Officer Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, this new product marks the fifth generation of the Santa Fe, named the All New Santa Fe, following the fourth generation's launch in 2022.
The South Korean SUV features dimensions of 4,830 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,720 mm in height, and a 2,815 mm wheelbase. Its design has been updated for a more robust and futuristic look.
The Santa Fe is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with an electric motor and battery. Both conventional and hybrid models are available, with an 8-speed transmission for the gasoline version and a 6-speed automatic transmission for the hybrid.
In the hybrid variant, power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. The conventional model, equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged Theta III gasoline engine, generates 281 PS and 421 Nm of torque, with all-wheel drive capabilities.
The All New Hyundai Santa Fe is priced from Rp 699 million ($44,800) for the Prime variant with a conventional engine, and Rp 784.5 million for the Calligraphy variant. The Santa Fe Hybrid starts at Rp 786.3 million for the Prime variant and Rp 869.6 million for the Calligraphy variant.
According to wholesale sales data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), Hyundai’s sales in Indonesia dropped by 12.5 percent to 1,596 units as of September 2024, reflecting the overall decline in car sales across the country.
