Banten. A global disruption in Microsoft 365 apps and services has affected check-in counter systems at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) in Tangerang, Banten.

The IT outage has led to delays in passenger services, causing long queues at Gate 4E, where Citilink's check-in counters are situated, on Friday evening.

In response, airport management and airlines have deployed additional staff to manage the situation and mitigate congestion. Manual check-in processes have been implemented to assist passengers.

Cin Asmoro, Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Secretary at Angkasa Pura (AP) II, confirmed the incident.

"As a result of this IT system disruption, check-in and baggage handling for affected airlines are being conducted manually. We have opened additional check-in counters to support these airlines. Airlines not impacted by the issue are continuing their operations using their IT systems," Asmoro stated.

AP II has also increased the number of aviation security (Avsec) personnel and customer service staff to help passengers and added more check-in counters.

"Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport earlier to facilitate their departure and coordinate with their airlines. Airlines have been instructed to provide regular updates to passengers," Asmoro added.

Microsoft users worldwide, including banks and airlines, reported widespread outages on Friday. The company has indicated progress in addressing the issue but continued reports of disruptions have emerged globally.

The exact cause and extent of the outage remain unclear. Microsoft suggested that the situation was improving but acknowledged ongoing issues. DownDetector, which tracks internet outages, reported increasing disruptions affecting Visa, ADT Security, Amazon, and airlines such as American Airlines and Delta.
