Why Talent and Next-Gen Loyalty Drive Swiss-Belhotel International’s Growth
Jakarta. Celebrating 39 years of corporate development, Swiss-Belhotel International continues to expand its footprint across the global hotel industry.
Built on an operational model that combines Swiss professionalism with Asian service passion, the group now operates more than 100 properties in Indonesia, making the country its largest market and primary engine for growth.
Behind this milestone lies a clear goal: expanding its global network to 530 hotels by 2033. To achieve this, the group manages 18 distinct brands across 20 countries. Its asset-light management model allows it to operate a complete range of hotels, from luxury properties to budget-friendly options.
Investing in People Over Technology
Over nearly four decades, Swiss-Belhotel International has navigated severe global hardships, including the Asian economic crisis, the bird flu outbreak, the Covid-19 pandemic, and global political turmoil. Rather than viewing these events as setbacks, the group grounds its long-term resilience in human capital over pure technology.
"If we had to rebuild this enterprise from scratch today, our capital would immediately go to talent and attitude," Gavin M. Faull, Chairman and President of Swiss-Belhotel International, said.
"While technology is a highly developed element of modern management, digital tools cannot
succeed in isolation. Technology requires human talent and a positive attitude to yield meaningful results."
"Effective recruitment must systematically identify raw talent whilst actively developing service attitude," Faull emphasizes.
"These human elements form the essential basis of sustainable enterprise growth."
Targeting the Family Segment: The SBEC Juniors Strategy
Approaching its 40th anniversary, Swiss-Belhotel International launched SBEC Juniors, a dedicated loyalty program for guests aged 16 and under, to capture the lucrative family travel market and increase customer lifetime value (LTV).
Because children strongly influence family travel choices, building early brand affinity increases booking conversion rates and drives extra spending on food, beverage, and resort amenities. More importantly, engaging young guests today creates a continuous path for future business travellers.
Strategic Vision for 2033
By combining employee development, a diverse brand strategy, and focus on young travelers through SBEC Juniors, Swiss-Belhotel International continues to strengthen its commercial foundation.
As the group expands across Asia, Australasia, the Middle East, and Africa towards its 2033 target, its 39-year track record demonstrates that investing in human potential remains the primary engine of enterprise value.
