Jakarta. Vice President Ma’ruf Amin recently inaugurated the new building belonging to the state-owned Islamic bank BSI in Banda Aceh, the capital of Aceh. 

The 46.5-meter BSI Landmark Tower becomes Banda Aceh’s tallest green building. The project also belongs to the state-owned construction firm PT PP. 

According to a press release, the building’s construction has a contract value of Rp 324.67 billion. It also took 17 months to build. The project is also an integrated construction taking place on land spanning 17,600 square meters. The building has a two-story basement, and officially becomes the first building belonging to a Sharia-compliant bank that embraces the theme “green building gold”.

The green building title comes from energy and water savings through the use of 37.4 kW solar panels, among others. The building also uses energy-saving air conditioner systems, as well as LED lights whose total power is 77. 25 percent lower than the maximum Indonesian national standard. The BSI Aceh Landmark also uses alternative sources of water such as rainwater and recycled water for its gardens and toilet flushes. 

These efforts help save 30 percent of energy compared to conventional buildings. This is equivalent to more or less 560,000 kWh of energy or Rp 625 million being saved every year. The building also saves approximately 65 percent of the tap water. 

Ma’ruf Amin praised the construction of this landmark tower. 

“Hopefully BSI Aceh can be a building that also helps grow Indonesia’s sharia financial industry,” Ma’ruf said. 

PTPP president director Novel Arsyad praised the partnership between two state-owned enterprises --PTPP and BSI-- in this project. 

“Praise be to God. We have completed the BSI Aceh Landmark by meeting the quality, safety standards, and the target. The vice president also inaugurated it today. The BSI Aceh Landmark is Aceh’s tallest building that embraces the green building concept with a gold certification. This makes a great addition to the list of PT PP’s achievements and portfolio,” Novel said. 

PT PP also vowed to keep its commitments, maintain risk management, and uphold sustainability principles to deliver the best results in its projects, according to Novel.
