United Tractors Helps Provide Clean Water in Pyainemo
Jakarta. Construction machinery firm United Tractors recently helped Papuan locals access clean water.
The company announced that it had helped set up the so-called seawater reverse osmosis system in Pyainemo, Raja Ampat. This system is set to help locals change seawater into clean drinking water. United Tractors also provided school supplies to the Pniel Paam Christian Education Foundation (YPK) Elementary School and YPK Pniel Paam Junior High School Raja Ampat. United Tractors also helped deliver health equipment packages to the healthcare facility on PAAM Island and Raja Ampat’s healthcare office.
Raja Ampat Regional Secretary Yusuf Salim said that the collaboration between the government and United Tractors supported the development of sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism.
"This assistance will strengthen the facilities and quality of services for the community. This collaboration is also an example of synergy that can provide great benefits to the community. We hope that this collaboration can continue and become stronger in the future," Yusuf was quoted as saying in a press statement.
Locals in Pyainemo have been struggling to get clean water. They have to travel to other islands and districts to do so. The seawater reverse osmosis system can remove salt and other hazardous substances to produce water that is safe to use. This technology is able to produce 250-300 liters of water per hour.
"United Tractors hopes that this assistance can provide a sustainable positive impact, especially in the management of clean water sources for the community. We will also be consistent in providing support for the community through the implementation of environmental, social, and governance [ESG]," United Tractors’ President Director Frans Kesuma said.
According to Frans, this program will not only benefit Pyainemo’s tourists, but also teachers and students of the schools that have received the assistance. There are 19,000 people who have the potential to become beneficiaries next year.
