Thohir Foundation, IKA Teladan Deliver 10,000 Aid Packages to Sumatra
Jakarta. The Mochamad Thohir Foundation, in collaboration with the SMAN 3 Alumni Association (IKA Teladan) and Sabhawana, has delivered 10,000 primary logistics packages to disaster victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The distribution of aid packages will be adjusted to the specific needs of each area and covers a variety of essential items to support the survival and recovery of affected communities. The symbolic handover took place on Friday at At-Thohir Mosque in Depok, led by Garibaldi “Boy” Thohir, patron of the Mochamad Thohir Foundation and Chairman of IKA Teladan, to Rangga Afianto, Chairman of the Sabhawana Alumni Association (IAS).
“This assistance reflects our concern for our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster, as well as our joint effort to support the government in addressing the ongoing natural calamity. Through strong collaboration with IKA Teladan and Sabhawana in delivering this aid, we hope it will ease the burden and accelerate the recovery of disaster-affected communities in Sumatra,” Boy Thohir said.
The aid packages include emergency tents, lighting equipment (solar cells, generators, emergency lamps), communication tools, food supplies (rice, instant noodles, biscuits, milk, etc.), clean water, clothing for children and adults, blankets, sarongs, prayer equipment, diapers for children and adults, shoes, masks, and hygiene kits (soap, detergent, shampoo, towels, toothbrushes, and toothpaste).
The Mochamad Thohir Foundation and IKA Teladan partnered with Sabhawana to handle the distribution of primary logistics packages in disaster areas. Distribution efforts are currently focused on Bireuen Regency, Aceh, which remains severely damaged and in urgent need of logistical support. In Bireuen, Sabhawana has also established a humanitarian post to assist in evacuating residents to safer areas. In addition, Sabhawana is working with BASARNAS and joint SAR teams to search for missing persons.
“To ensure aid is received quickly and accurately, shipment will be coordinated with relevant agencies, particularly the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), using air routes due to severely limited land access. Distribution will continue to other affected areas in North Sumatra and West Sumatra according to each region’s needs,” Rangga said.
Through the combined efforts of the Mochamad Thohir Foundation, IKA Teladan, and Sabhawana, the initiative aims to reach communities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra more effectively and deliver meaningful impact in accelerating the recovery of those affected by the natural disaster.
