The Sounds Project Vol. 9 to Feature 120-Plus Acts in Biggest Edition Yet
Jakarta. The Sounds Project will return with its annual music festival, The Sounds Project Vol. 9: Beyond Memories, on Aug. 7-9, 2026, at Ecovention & Ecopark Ancol in Jakarta. The festival will feature more than 120 local and international artists, making it one of the largest editions in the event's history.
Now in its ninth year, the festival, which began as a student community initiative more than a decade ago, has grown into one of Indonesia's biggest music festivals. Each year, The Sounds Project attracts tens of thousands of attendees, with multiple ticket categories consistently selling out.
The Sounds Project Festival Director Gerhana Banyubiru said the festival's journey over the past decade proves that maintaining consistency is the greatest challenge in building a successful music event.
"Maintaining consistency is far more difficult than getting started. We were still in college when we launched The Sounds Project, and with all our limitations, it was just a small event with a single stage. But we believed that as long as we stayed true to the same vision, the festival would continue to grow alongside its audience," Gerhana said at a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.
This year's edition will feature three international headliners: Neck Deep, the British pop-punk band returning to Southeast Asia after its summer tour break; Nusantara Beat, the Netherlands-based band inspired by Indonesian musical traditions, which will make its exclusive Indonesian performance at the festival; and JET, the Australian rock band best known for its string of hit songs in the 2000s.
Alongside the international acts, the festival will showcase some of Indonesia's biggest names in music, including Tulus, Raisa, Hindia, .Feast, Bernadya, Mahalini, Kotak, Banda Neira, and dozens of other artists spanning various genres and generations.
Gerhana said this year's theme, Beyond Memories, reflects the experience the organizers hope to create for festivalgoers—one that goes beyond simply making memories and leaves a lasting impression.
"The 11-year journey of bringing The Sounds Project to where it is today has become one of my core memories. That's what we want to share this year—not just memories, but experiences that truly stay with everyone who attends," he said.
To accommodate different audiences, organizers are offering several ticket options, including a 3-Day Pass for access throughout the festival and Daily Passes for Aug. 7, 8, or 9. Couple Packages for two people and Group Packages for six people are also available at discounted prices.
Regular tickets are now on sale through The Sounds Project's official ticketing website ticket.thesoundsproject.com.
