Jakarta. Tanoto Foundation has officially opened applications for its 2026 Fellowship Program, inviting young Indonesians to take part in shaping the future of education and social development.

As Indonesia works to strengthen its human capital amid intensifying global competition, challenges remain. According to the World Bank, Indonesia’s Human Capital Index stood at 0.54 in 2020, meaning a child born today is expected to reach only 54% of their full productivity potential with current access to education and healthcare.

Addressing this gap requires a comprehensive approach—spanning social, economic, and governance reforms—in line with the country’s long-term vision of Indonesia Emas 2045, which places human capital development at its core.

To support this transformation, the Tanoto Foundation Fellowship Program aims to nurture future leaders in education and social development by providing hands-on experience and real-world impact opportunities.

Selected participants, known as Tanoto Fellows, will be placed for one year in regional offices across Riau, North Sumatra, Central Java, and East Kalimantan. During the program, fellows will work on projects focused on improving education systems and strengthening local communities.

“This program gives young people the opportunity to develop leadership, innovation, and collaboration skills in real-world settings,” said Yosea Kurnianto, Head of Leadership Development & Scholarship at Tanoto Foundation. “Fellows not only learn theory but also apply their knowledge directly in the field, designing solutions that address real community needs.”

Beyond field experience, participants will receive a comprehensive development package, including:

  • Project-based leadership training to sharpen strategic and management skills
  • Mentorship and coaching from experienced education experts
  • A competitive monthly allowance and funding for social initiatives at the end of the program
  • Access to the Tanoto Fellows Network, a collaborative alumni community focused on continuous learning and impact
