SEDASA Brings Modest Fashion Showcase to Jakarta for First Time
Jakarta. SEDASA, the fashion event first launched in Bandung, West Java, in 2020, has returned with renewed energy and a larger vision for Indonesia’s modest fashion industry.
Born during the Covid-19 pandemic, SEDASA initially served as a platform for Bandung-based modest fashion entrepreneurs to continue showcasing their creativity through virtual fashion shows accessible to audiences across Indonesia and abroad.
By its second edition in 2021, participation in SEDASA had grown significantly, reflecting rising enthusiasm for the platform. After a brief hiatus, SEDASA is making a comeback this year on a bigger scale, featuring a series of fashion shows, exhibitions, and award presentations.
Carrying the theme “Rhapsody Summit,” SEDASA was held in Jakarta for the first time on May 1, 2026, at the InterContinental Hotel Jakarta Pondok Indah. The move marks a strategic step in positioning SEDASA as a national-scale fashion event.
SEDASA Volume 3 presented a collaborative stage for visionary designers to introduce their latest collections while helping shape the future direction of Indonesia’s modest fashion industry, particularly ahead of the Eid al-Adha season.
Beyond featuring established designers and brands, SEDASA also created opportunities for emerging talents to appear on a nationally recognized runway, supporting a more inclusive and sustainable fashion ecosystem.
This year’s edition showcased the latest collections from 14 Indonesian modest fashion designers and brands, including Guest Designer Ivan Gunawan, through two runway sessions. The first session featured collections from Mandhja by Ivan Gunawan, Nabila Misha Fashion, Padushi by Novitasari, Gita Orlin, Arabellescarf, Armila Syar’i, AMYZA, Arinna Premium Hijab, Agoest Hanggono, Rumman, Mirranda Atelier, Mayra, and Shadec. The second session highlighted collections from AMYZA and Motif Hawa, complemented by special performances from renowned singers Krisdayanti and Titi DJ.
However, SEDASA goes beyond runway glamour. At the heart of the event is a mission to connect creativity with real business opportunities. The participation of resellers played a key role in the ecosystem, opening direct channels for transactions and collaboration between fashion businesses and the market.
“In addition to inviting fashion enthusiasts, we also brought together resellers from various regions to attend the event. We hope that after the fashion show, business interactions and direct transactions can take place between resellers, designers, and brands. Alhamdulillah, this target has consistently been achieved. Through SEDASA, we aim to unite local designers and brands to help revive public purchasing power for locally made fashion products,” said SEDASA Founder Rya Baraba.
As part of its appreciation for industry contributors, SEDASA also presented awards to inspiring figures in the modest fashion sector. “The Modest Visionary Award” was presented to Ivan Gunawan for his consistency, influence, and visionary role in shaping Indonesia’s modern modest fashion landscape. Through his various fashion brands, Ivan Gunawan has successfully created collections that are relevant, commercially appealing, and distinctive, while also expanding global appreciation for Indonesian modest wear.
Meanwhile, the “Young Visionary Award” was presented to Nabila Misha in recognition of her exceptional potential, courage, and creative spirit at a young age. Despite her age, she has demonstrated a strong passion for entering and adapting to the fashion industry, along with the confidence to express her creative vision authentically.
With dedication, perseverance, and a strong eagerness to learn, Nabila Misha continues to grow, innovate, and push beyond expectations. Her journey reflects a new generation of designers who are not only bold enough to dream but also committed to taking concrete steps toward building a more creative, inspiring, and dynamic future for the fashion industry.
SEDASA 2026 was supported by Indonesia’s Ministry of Creative Economy (EKRAF) and officially opened with remarks from Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya. The event was also sponsored by Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), Ultima x Redberry, Nan Lamak Restaurant, MS Glow, Textindo, Ida Jaya Crystal, Maktour, 5asec, Devya Dental Clinic, Provite, and JWater.
From Bandung to Jakarta, SEDASA’s journey reflects a story of growth and ambition. At its core lies a shared belief that Indonesian modest fashion is not only about style, but also about identity, collaboration, and the future of the creative industry.
