RMKE Strengthens Q3 Performance with Hauling Road Expansion
Jakarta. RMK Energy, also known by its ticker symbol RMKE, announced Thursday that its hauling road infrastructure expansion had strengthened its Q3 2025 performance.
In early 2025, the company completed an integrated hauling road facility connecting the mine site with the Kramasan Musi 2 Port. This facility is now connected to two new mines, namely Wiraduta Sejahtera Langgeng (WSL) and Duta Bara Utama (DBU).
RMKE has also established a land management partnership with Medco Energi Internasional via Medco E&P Lematang and several other parties. This deal focuses on the development of a connectivity network with potential mines in South Sumatra.
RMKE Loads 5.7 Million Tons of Coal by September
As of September 2025, RMKE loaded a total of 5.7 million tons of coal onto barges, down 9.2 percent year-on-year (yoy). The company attributed the decline to the weakening coal demand in the first half of this year. However, RMKE saw a positive trend in Q3 2025, during which loading volumes totaled 2.1 million tons.
This increase was supported by increased demand ahead of the winter season and the contribution of newly operational hauling road facilities, which added 724,400 tons of transported volume by September 2025.
The coal sales segment also faced declining volumes and prices, particularly in the first half of this year.
By September 2025, RMKE had sold 1.1 million tons of coal at an average selling price of Rp 559,600 per ton, indicating an 8.6 percent yoy decrease.
Operating Revenue Up 5.7% YoY in Q3
Despite a 36.1 percent yoy drop in operating revenue due to a weakening coal sales segment, the company’s Q3 2025 revenue went up 5.7 percent yoy. This revenue came from the coal sales and transportation services segments, contributing 53.5 percent and 46.5 percent, respectively.
The coal transportation services segment also boosted the company's increasing profit margin.
By September 2025, RMKE recorded a gross profit of Rp 237.6 billion ($14.2 million), the majority of which came from the services segment (81.2 percent).
Net profit stood at 138.2 billion, with a net profit margin increasing from 10.1 percent to 12.3 percent, thanks to efficiencies and contributions from the services segment.
Debt Management and Financial Stability; DER 0.3 Times
In the third quarter of 2025, RMKE issued bonds worth Rp 400 billion for working capital to secure coal supply. The corporate action led to a 26.3 percent increase in its liabilities, now reaching Rp 811.4 billion. However, the debt-to-equity ratio (DER) remained stable at 0.3 times. Equity growth reached 7.1 percent, and total assets increased by 12.4 percent, primarily supported by increased coal inventories in anticipation of the year-end winter season.
RMKE Director Jennifer Angeline Djamin said that the positive financial trend in the third quarter reflected the company's success in optimizing operations and diversifying revenue, despite challenges in the coal market.
"We remain focused on developing operations and maintaining strong financial ratios, as well as increasing service revenue and operational efficiency," Jennifer was quoted as saying in a press statement.
RMKE President Director Vincent Saputra explained that the company had optimized investments in integrated facilities from the mine to the port and plans to develop hauling road connectivity with other potential mines in South Sumatra.
"Collaboration with various parties will be key to developing this network, while also optimally utilizing the land's potential," Vincent said.
"Through strategic collaboration, RMKE is committed to supporting sustainable infrastructure development and increasing the competitiveness of the mining industry in South Sumatra. We also wish to contribute to the government's program of energy security at competitive costs amidst the pressure of falling coal prices and unstable economic conditions," he stated.
