Jakarta. PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP), a national construction and investment company under Danantara Indonesia, has demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability by planting 2,500 coral seedlings at Grand Watu Dodol, Bangsring Beach, Banyuwangi, East Java.

This conservation initiative was carried out in collaboration with seven other state-owned enterprises -- PT Adhi Karya, PT Hutama Karya, PERURI, PT Wijaya Karya, PT Waskita Karya, BNI, and Brantas Abipraya -- with support from the East Java Marine and Fisheries Agency, BP3 Banyuwangi, the Wongsorejo District Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), and local coastal community groups. The planted coral species, Acropora tenuis and Montipora, are expected to help restore marine biodiversity while improving the livelihoods of local fishing communities.

“Business sustainability can only run in parallel with environmental sustainability. Through this conservation program, we aim to restore damaged marine ecosystems while providing direct benefits for fishermen and surrounding communities,” said PTPP Corporate Secretary, Joko Raharjo. He added that the initiative aligns with PTPP’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Quality Education, No Poverty, and Partnership for the Goals.

“The planting of coral reefs is expected to serve as a long-term solution to protect Indonesia’s marine wealth and prevent further damage caused by environmentally unfriendly fishing practices,” Joko explained.

This initiative also reaffirms PTPP’s consistency in applying Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Beyond building national infrastructure, the effort represents PTPP’s tangible contribution to maintaining environmental and social balance as part of its responsibility to future generations, ensuring that sustainability programs are implemented equitably across Indonesia’s coastal regions.
