Pluang Launches More than 500 US Stocks, Calling on Local Investors to Buy
Jakarta. Indonesia-based Multi-Asset Investment App Pluang, recently launched more than 500 US stocks that span across different sectors, be it technology, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods to football clubs.
The new addition brings the number of US stocks on Pluang to more than 600. Users now are able to start investing in the world’s stock market, starting as little as $0.30 (less than Rp 5,000).
“For the first time, Indonesians can invest in the stocks of the best global companies with such an affordable amount. This can be a solution for those who wish to save their money productively yet still can’t resist the urge to be consumptive. Having various brands’ capital stocks from products that we usually consume will be such a fun way to shift your consumptive behavior,” Pluang co-founder Claudia Kolonas was quoted as saying in a recent press statement.
Pluang reported that its US Stock’s investor numbers had grown by twofold within 2023, and its managed assets in US stocks had also jumped by up to fivefold in the past year. Imam Nugraha, the Head of Financial Academy Pluang, said that the newly added US stocks list will enable investors to explore stock investment styles that suit their financial risk profiles.
“US stocks are usually classified based on the sectors before we get into the valuation of each company. There are at least four groups of stocks: defensive US stocks [resilient to uncertain market conditions], undervalued US stocks [lower from a P/E ratio standpoint if compared to other companies in the same sector], and speculative US stocks [dependent on the public sentiment]. And growth stocks [companies that have a faster revenue rate higher than the average],” Imam said.
Pluang has partnered with the Bappebti-licensed PT PG Berjangka. According to Pluang, PG Berjangka works together with SEC-registered broker-dealer Alpaca Securities and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) to handle the transactions of the US stocks in the NYSE and Nasdaq. The purchases of US stocks are carried out via the Bursa Berjangka Indonesia (BBJ) and guaranteed by the Kliring Berjangka Indonesia (KBI). Pluang users who have invested in US stocks can view the transactions and how much they have owned in the system provided by BBJ and KBI.
Pluang also supports its users to invest in different US stocks simultaneously with the Pocket feature. In this feature, the assets are classified based on risk profiles, sectors, and personal analyses. Pluang also has the Leverage feature that enables users to get double profits by investing half the price of the total share unit with a nominal value of 0.1 unit. Investors can also learn more about the Leverage feature on Pluang Akademi.
