Jakarta. Bina Tuna Bangsa School, one of the best schools in North Jakarta, also known as BTB School, aims to provide a space for students to achieve academic excellence through a holistic education.

The school has two campuses located in North Jakarta: Pluit Timur campus for Preschool through Grade 8, and Pluit Putri campus for Grades 9 to 12. The school implements the Cambridge and International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. Instruction is delivered in English, and students also learn Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia.

“We want children to be fluent in various languages,” said Ms. Meliana, Early Childhood Years & Primary School Principal of BTB School.

Both campuses provide complete facilities, including comfortable classrooms, sports facilities, laboratories, library, cafeteria, auditorium, and more.

Since its founding two decades ago, BTB School has been committed to providing a holistic education that focuses not only on academic achievement but also on character development and social empathy. One of the school’s distinctive strengths compared to many others is its comprehensive character-building approach through religion-based and values-driven programs. Students receive religious education according to their respective religion through Kelas Bina Iman, reflective retreats, and meaningful spiritual activities designed to nurture integrity, compassion, and self-awareness. The school also regularly holds an event called Well-Being Day, which brings representatives from various religions to engage with students, enriching their spiritual understanding while fostering mutual respect, empathy, and harmony within a diverse community.

“In this way, students receive even deeper religious instruction. We invite speakers such as priests, pastors, monks, and ustads,” Ms. Meliana added.

Through BTB Cares, the school aims to bring students together, inspire change, and make a difference in people’s lives as a form of giving back to the community. The community service program includes BTB for the Environment, BTB Volunteers, BTB Helping Hands, and natural disaster response initiatives.

BTB School offers a diverse range of extracurricular programs designed to nurture students’ interests and talents beyond the classroom. These include sports, music, arts and crafts, coding, cooking classes, Mandarin language enrichment, performing arts, as well as academic enrichment programs in mathematics and science.

The school also offers a special club program designed for talented students. Through a selective process, chosen students receive intensive coaching to help them sharpen their abilities and grow in confidence. By joining these clubs, students have opportunities to showcase their skills in various competitions, challenge themselves, enjoy the learning experience, and achieve outstanding results.

BTB School is widely recognized for its outstanding achievements at the prestigious World Scholar’s Cup, where students have consistently demonstrated excellence at both national and international levels. At the regional round in Jakarta, the school secured 1st, 3rd, and 4th places. At the Global Round in South Korea, students achieved 3rd, 4th, and 20th positions.

Continuing their success at the Tournament of Champions hosted by Yale University, Connecticut, USA, in November 2025, BTB School students earned 10th, 19th, and 26th place rankings worldwide. Competing in the Junior Division, the BTB School team brought home four trophies, along with an impressive total of 62 gold medals and 32 silver medals, further strengthening the school’s reputation for academic excellence on the global stage.

At BTB School, ninth-grade students are guided in determining their academic interests. They may choose to focus on either the science or business pathway. In the science pathway, students select specialized subjects such as biology, physics, and chemistry. The business pathway includes business studies, accounting, and economics.

Before students make their choices, the school conducts an orientation session involving both students and parents. Through this activity, the school guides on selecting the appropriate pathway and explains the advantages and benefits of each field of study, which may ultimately influence students’ choice of university majors.

From preschool through high school, students at BTB School follow an international curriculum with a student - centered methodology. Students take the Cambridge Checkpoint Examinations in Grade 8, the Cambridge IGCSE Examinations in Grade 10, and the IB Diploma Programme Examinations in Grade 12.
