Jakarta. KB Bukopin is transforming its information technology system with its SHINE Project, according to a recent press statement.

In late February, KB Bukopin launched an IT system development initiative called the SHINE Project. The project was previously known as the Next Generation Banking System (NGBS) during its planning stage. KB Bukopin reported that the SHINE Project would go through several phases for 19.5 months. The system is expected to boast state-of-the-art technology, including improved core banking.

"The SHINE Project has the goal of becoming a one-stop banking solution, integrated KB Bukopin, as well as customer-centric. This project provides flexibility for KB Bukopin to create product and service innovations,” KB Bukopin president director Woo Yeul Lee said in the statement.

“KB Financial Group will always support, one of which is through the transfer of knowledge regarding the implementation of the development of a similar system in Korea,” he added.

KB Bukopin has appointed DXC Technology, an American IT services and consulting company, as the IT master contractor for the SHINE Project. DXC Technology has more than 110,000 professionals spread across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

“By combining the strengths and expertise of DXC globally, we will provide transformative technology solutions to ensure the success of this project,” DXC ASEAN Managing Director Yves Cramazou said.

The NGBS (now SHINE Project) focuses on transforming IT and business systems for KB Bukopin. This also includes system updates to better support business needs and boost customer satisfaction.

KB Bukopin unveiled the NGBS plan at the end-2021, and its implementation was part of the ultimate shareholder KB Financial Group’s initiative. KB Kookmin Bank has also implemented the latest banking technology, according to the release.

KB Bukopin began boosting the capacity of its data center and disaster recovery center in mid-2022. This marked the first step in the development of a financial service platform that can actively provide added value to customers' financial experience through a customized offer based on the behavior analysis of the bank’s customers. KB Bukopin has also appointed Ernst & Young as the Project Management Officer (PMO) of the NGBS project.
