KB Bank Grants Football Education Scholarships for Indonesian Kids
Jakarta. KB Bank recently launched the Persipu Academy Football School Scholarship program aimed at nurturing Indonesia’s future football players.
This corporate social responsibility was part of KB Bank’s celebration of the Youth Pledge Day. It seeks to integrate education, sports, and character-building to create a future generation of young Indonesians with integrity and competitiveness.
KB Bank has partnered with the football training institution Persipu Academy. Under this partnership, KB Bank has granted full scholarships for five selected participants for a one-year intensive football training program. This support covers training costs and character development programs, designed to nurture young talents while instilling the values of discipline, teamwork, and healthy competitiveness.
President Director of KB Bank Kunardy Darma Lie said that the initiative reflected the company’s genuine commitment to contributing to the development of a resilient and strong-charactered future generation.
“At KB Bank, we believe that education and character building are key to creating a sustainable future. Learning does not only take place in classrooms, but also in the field of sports, where spirit, discipline, and teamwork are built,” Kunardy said.
“Through this program, we aim to provide opportunities for young people to embrace values of perseverance, integrity, and collaboration, principles that also form the foundation of a sound and responsible financial system,” he said.
As part of the event series, KB Bank also hosted the Fourfeo Community Competition, a mini football tournament that brought together four sports communities over the weekend. KB Bank also handed over the scholarships at the event.
KBFG’s Impact in Indonesia
Parent company KB Financial Group (KBFG) has made a series of initiatives aimed at creating a positive social impact in Indonesia. For instance, KB Kookmin Bank -- KBFG’s banking entity in South Korea and KB Bank’s controlling shareholder -- has held a heart surgery assistance program for children from developing countries.
Between 2024 and 2025, KB Kookmin Bank assisted ten Indonesian children suffering from heart disease with surgery and medical treatment at Samsung Seoul Hospital. This program is part of a global humanitarian collaboration that has been running for more than a decade and has so far provided a better quality of life for over a hundred children from various countries, including Indonesia.
